These cuttings
may be found on other parts of this website
and in the two Bygone Pembury books.
This compilation is a work in progress and
is being expanded as new cuttings are found.
As single entries they may be of limited
interest, but when strung together may
provide a long term
story showing the continuity of a particular
thread of interest. Typically, the
need to publicly announce the change in
ownership of a license to sell beer, wine
and spirits gives precise documentation of
the people running the local pubs and beer
houses over several centuries.
Similarly the reports from the law courts
shows the types of crimes and punishments
issued to the
badly behaved of Pembury.
Any discovery of interesting newspaper
cuttings from yesteryear would be welcome.
